OCD: Psychiatric brain illness, like all illnesses, can develop at any age, although the development usually involves having a genetic vulnerability and life exposures which trigger the onset of illness. For specific information on obsessive compulsive disorder, refer to www.Ocfoundation.Org. Meds and cbt help. Read brainlock. You are not your illness. Control it so it won't control you!

Usually Between 8-12: Ocd often develops in childhood. Of adults w/ocd, from 20-50% thought 2 have experienced symptoms as kids. Ocd = highly treatable using exposure & response prevention. Idea = help kids learn that ocd tries 2 trick them into doing things; & teach them to say no & talk back 2 ocd. Family involvement in treatment is impt.
