Depends...: This is really a question of your insurance system. Some require referrals, some do not. The easiest way to find out is to call the office of a pain management physician and see if your insurance will pay for the visit without a referral.

See who is in: Network with your insurance company. Some insurances will let you go straight to a pain doc, others will require primary visit first. If you can go straight, find your insurance company list of providers and look up pain management. Call and schedule. You can also consider going to any pain physician as a cash patient, but that can get pricey. Best of luck!
