Possible medication: Interaction. I would just ask your doctor the reason he desires ekg's. The use of a ssri (celexa (citalopram) is an ssri) with tramadol can ^ the risk of developing a serotonin syndrome, .

Not tramadol: Tramadol isn't the problem, it's celexa (citalopram). It can prolong the qt interval and promote rhythm disturbances. It's uncommon but your doctor is smart and has your back - listen to him/her!

Drug interaction: Citalopram inhibits tge metabolism/breakdown of tramadol, which leads to higher concentration of serotonin at nerve synapses in the brain. Historically, this led to a concern for increased risk of seizure or serotonin syndrome. Recently, citalopram over 40mg has been associsted with risk for life threatening heart rhythm. Your md is being cautious for your safety.
