Ingrown toenails: They can be treated surgically and then the offending portion of the nail (at the base) treated so that it doesn't grow back. Its best not to get them in the first place - buy a pair of trimmers specific for toenails - the curve is different than fingernail clippers. Avoid trimming too close which leaves a little spike that causes the ingrowning.

See a Podiatrist: Ingrown toenails can sometimes managed by cutting the toenails strait across. The best treatment is to see a podiatrist and have the ingrown toenail removed and the nail bed destroyed so it cannot recur.

In office procedure : Ingrown toenails are easily resolved via an in office procedure where the toe is numbed and the offending border(s) removed. In some cases a permanent correction can be performed.

Minor surgery: It requires local anesthesia & then the piece of nail is removed & a chemical is used to cauterize tissue so the nail does not grow back.
