Probably not. : The iud is a safe effective form of contraception and should not cause you any pain with intercourse. If by some chance you do have pain, see your dr. Immediately. However, most women using Mirena (levonorgestrel) are very happy with thier life style while using it.

Sometime: It is painful with insertion and a bit afterwards. You should not be afraid to have sex prior to insertion. If you do not have pain afterwards then you should not be afraid to have sex then either. Usually it is just cramping.
