Lay out expectations: While there are many demands on a physician's time, there are some things that you can do to get the help you need - 1) write down a list of problems and symptoms to guide your initial encounter, 2) prioritize and focus on one or two problems at a time, 3) take notes on what the doctor tells you to do, 4) if there is a pa or np, they can often spend more time and 5) if unhappy, find a new doctor.

Insurance: There are thousands of excellent caring doctors out there. Sorry you haven't had the past experience of finding them. Regarding insurance companies, they are a business and in my opinion, their top priority is maximum service for least cost. Unfortunately, with reduced insurance coverage payments to doctors, it comes with a price. A good doctor should give you the time you need regardless.
