Treat: Definitely should treat-whether root canal or extraction- check with your dds and have him check with your OB re: antibiotics.

Treat now: Please see a dentist asap. This tooth will very likely need a root canal or extraction. It is safe to have this done during your pregnancy, but your dentist will decide that. Please don't delay seeing a dentist.

Risk assessment: There is more risk to you and your unborn child not treating infections such as this. See your dentist and have him\her work out appropriate treatment after consulting your obstetrician. As long as basic precautions are followed, dental treatment should be safe and effective.
