is there a life long cure for afib?

Dr. Ankush Bansal

No: There is no cure yet for afib. Even with electrical or chemical cardioversion which may convert afib back to sinus, there is always a chance of the rhythm converting back to an irregular rhythm like afib. It is control of the rate and prevention of thrombo-emboli that is the goal of treatment.

No: unless there is a specific reason such as hypothyroidism, most therapies seek to attenuate symptoms
