Is it a good idea to supplement breast milk with formula?

No: There is nothing lacking in breast milk that is compensated for with a supplement of formula. Provided that mom is eating balanced meals, baby is receiving a vitamin d supplement, and there is adequate Fluoride in the local tap water, formula is not necessary.
