Are severe back and sharp side pains normal during pregnancy? i am 36 weeks. and i already have an appointment with my ob, just curious.

Most likely yes: Pains in your back and side are usually caused from pressure of the large uterus and swelling of the tissues which causes nerve blockage and therefor pain. If you notice decreased movement, vaginal bleeding, painful urination and fever/chills it could be something else and you should go to labor and delivery immediately!
