Not realy: Most of the time, shin splints cause only mild, temporary pain. Occasionally, the individual may have a permanent disabling injury.Thank good luck.

Not usually: Most of the time shin splints are self limited. Meaning once you decrease or stop the offending activity the inflammation will subside and pain will resolve. Long term effects are not commonly seen.
