Dystonia: Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder, in which sustained muscle contractions cause twisting and repetitive movements or abnormal posture. Such continous contractions utilizes a great deal of the bodies energy resources such as glucose, Amino Acids and essential fatty acids. Although the body finds a way to obtain and living balance for the person the correct medication and nutrition helps.

Yes and no: Dystonia is a condition of the muscles that can be a reaction to too much use or can be a progressive disease. Musicians can have dystonic reaction in their fingers after too much practicing. This is a result of a form of fatigue. If the muscles go into dystonic spasm, they will be left with severe and painful fatigue. Good muscle management is necessary to maintain good muscle function.
