Prostaglandins: When we menstruate there is an increase of prostaglandin production in our bodies. These are neurotransmitters that affect our gastrointestinal system and our pain sensors. Common for women to have increased diarrhea, bloating and pain at the time of menses, all due to prostaglandins. Ibuprofen is best treatment.
