Severe PMS/PMDD?: Severe emotional symptoms before your menstrual period could be premenstrual syndrome or even premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Sometimes being on oral contraceptives can ameliorate this. The most sensible approach would be to see your physician for a full workup, and consider whatever additional studies and treatments s/he suggests. First line therapy is often ssri's; other ideas too.

Dysmenorrhea,Mood : Pain associated with menstruation is called dysmenorrhea.Anti-inflammatory drugs, birth control pills containing hormones estrogen and progestin, intra-uterine device and exercise, good sleep, relaxation techniques will help.Consider ssris such as zoloft, (sertraline) Prozac amongst others , start 2-3 days before you start pd and continue through out the cycle. Repeat this every month.
