Not necessarily: Well, normally, you would insert it after your period is over with. Inserting it during your period may shorten it potentially, but no guarantee.

Usually : Nuvaring is very effective at controlling then menstrual cycle. Occasionally irregular bleeding occurs. This is called breakthrough bleeding. It can be annoying but it's usually temporary and harmless.
