A member asked:

Will the nuvaring be effective after the 3 week period is up before inserting it for next 3 weeks?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Yes: Removal of NuvaRing allows for withdrawal bleeding. It's meant to be removed after 3wks use. After 4wks, it's effectiveness cannot be guaranteed so you'll need to confirm that you're not pregnant before placing another one after which you'll need to use a 2nd form of contraception until it's been in place at least 7d. Got it? If not, check out http://www.Nuvaring.Com/consumer/faqs/index.Asp.
