May need help: In general, most pills will dissolve in your throat and should not cause any permanent damage. It depends on what type of pill you swallowed, for eg. Doxycycline can be quite caustic to the esophagus. If the burning is severe and isn't getting better with drinking water, you should go to acute care center or an ed.
