Maybe: I really depends on the situation. As long as the chip only involves the enamel and is not causing discomfort you may not have to have it fixed. If the chip is due to underlying decay you should have it repaired. I would recommend that you visit your dentist to be sure.

Get it checked out: Sometime a small chip can propagate and lead to a vertical crack. A lot of it depends on the location of the chip and whether there is enough occlusal load in that area. Let a dentist check it out.
