Scabies: Human are the main source of infestation and transmission through prolonged, close personal contact. Large number of mites in exfoliating skin can cause rapid spread with less contact time. Interesting: only adult female mites cause burrowing and creates serpiginous rash which is intensely itchy, red, and bumpy. Other uncommon source: dogs and some other animals.
