A member asked:

Is it possible that i mistook a viral infection of the throat for throat cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You bet.: Both can start with quite severe throat pain, but most viral infections abate in 1 - 2 weeks, as most cancers get worse. Either can produce neck nodes ("glands in neck") . And guess what. A viral infection with hpv can be the cause of some throat cancers, usually in smokers that drink for the rest. How do you find out? Direct laryngoscopy b.
