Possibly: There are many theories about the etiology of cancer. One of the most prominent is that there is an alteration in the body's immune or defense system. Somehow, the cancer cells escape the normal immune surveillance and proliferate and invade the normal tissues. There are therapies that have been devised to take advantage of the immune system to "activate" it and target it against cancers.
