I am going to have an allergy test. how long before that should i discontinue the allergy medications?

Ask: Ask your physician who is ordering the test. Some testing requires time off medications, other testing does not.

Ask your allergist: Each allergy office has its own recommendations regarding when to stop antihistamines before skin testing. At our office those taken more than once a day are stopped 48 hours before testing. Antihistamines taken daily are stopped 7 days before testing.
