Treat arrhythmias: Ablation refers to destroying a small section of the heart to stop electrical impulses that can cause rhythm disorders. The cardiologist does this with directed heat or electric impulses. It is often the most effective way to stop rapid arrhythmias such as svt, VT and is increasingly be used for atrial fibrillation.
