Recurrent arrhythmia: If one has recurrent fast heart beat or irregular heart beat ( svt, afib etc) and symptomatic, cardiac ablation may be needed if medications could not control the rate and rhythm.

When you...: Generally, these three answers suffice: when you don't want to take meds forever when the symptoms aren't sufficiently better with meds when the condition (such as typical atrial flutter) is eminently treatable with minimal risk.
