Yes: As with many drugs of this type, it is always better to escalate the dose slowly over a few days, to decreased the incidence of additive side effects such as somnolence, dizziness and others.

Not a problem: Gabapentin does not have any major drug-drug interactions, as it is kidney metabolized, and dilantin, via the liver.
