It can be: Low Insulin can lead to a very high blood sugar level depending upon how low the Insulin level is. I would recommend an evaluation by a physician and preferably an endocrinologist if you have had Insulin levels drawn that have been considered low. Basically a low Insulin level can indicate pancreatic dysfunction and the end result of that can be diabetes.

Depends.: With a normal sugar level, a low fasting Insulin level pretty much rules out type ii diabetes, which is good. High sugar and low Insulin are what you see in type i diabetes, and that's harmful.

Generally not: Unless you have type 1 diabetes. How do you know your level is low? Why would you have had it measured in the first place? Plus Insulin assays are not very reliable even a good labs.

Depends . . .: How low is low? No Insulin production is bad because this means you have type 1 diabetes. However, low Insulin w/o diabetes in an otherwise fit & healthy individual suggests Insulin sensitivity. In other words, you don't need much Insulin to control your sugars (as opposed to type 2 diabetes where you need a lot of Insulin to control your sugars which is Insulin resistance).

Insulin: Normal Insulin levels are required to maintain blood glucose levels. Low Insulin levels will lead to high blood sugar, and thus diabetes.

Not like high,,: Low Insulin causes glucose levels to stay high or rise which means the glucose can't get into the cells and serve as nourishment. This is seen in type i diabetes (no insulin) and in type ii diabetes (insulin resistance). This means that the body's fat and later muscle reserves are used. However, if there is too much, like in an insulinoma, hypoglycemia can rapidly result causing coma and death.
