Thumb pain: It sounds like your carpal metacarpal joint (cmc). Unusual for someone your age to have pain there. Have you had an injury to the ligament in the past? Sometime tenosynovitis of the first dorsal compartment (dequervain's) can give similar symptoms. I would take 2 aleve (naproxen) twice a day with food for 3 days an see if it relieves your pain.
