Steroid Injections: That is how steroid injections work. The 24 to 48 hours after an injection can hurt worse then it did prior to the injection. But, then the anti-inflammatory nature of the steroid works and the pain diminishes. Normal.

Yes: You probably received steroids in addition to the lidocaine. The steroids decreased the inflammation and resulted in an improvement of your pain.
