A member asked:

My brother got freon on his thumb and says it hurts...what should he do about it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Freon burns: Extreme heat and cold can damage the skin. These injuries can be superficial with redness only or they may blister. These superficial burns are painful and usually heal without scars. If the burn is very deep the nerves are destroyed and the burn doesn't hurt. These areas may heal with scarring. If it is small area it should be fine but larger areas should be evaluated by a physician.
