Trigger thumb: You may have trigger thumb, which is a swelling of the flexor tendon lining and causes difficulty when bending the thumb. It is typically worse in the morning. A course of night-time splinting and anti-inflammatories can help alleviate your pain. If this doesn't help, then you may benefit from a steroid injection.
