See md: The area needs to be irrigated and the foreign body removed. Tetanus toxoid if not received in 5 years and possibly antibiotics to prevent infection.

Surgical consultatio: Discuss the situation with your surgeon. It all depends on what the foreign body is, how deep within, and what the surrounding structures are. Sometimes it is safe to just leave it, and in other cases it must be removed surgically.
