Depersonalization: In addition to dbt, dialectic behavioral therapy and hypnosis, which were used at stanford during my residency, now there is another intervention, possibly even more effective. Ifs (internal family systems) is a systematic therapeutic model designed to treat surviving victims of abuse, who continue to suffer and experience a separation off of part(s) of herself due to the trauma. Depersonalization: This is a defense, protecting you most likely from aspects of reality that are uncomfortable for you or threaten you. Individual psychotherapy and or in combination with group therapy can be very helpful. Don't give up, it often takes several tries to find the right match between therapist and client. Best.
