Projected growth: It is routein for me to plot a kid at his actual size on a growth chart, but adjust it back to whatever level of prematurity may have occurred. This gives a better idea of the kids expected growth pattern because it reflects how s/he would have grown if s/he had delivered at term. We do this for the first year during the rapid growth of infancy, after 2 there is no reason to.They catch often up.

See below: This means that your child is tracking normally on the growth chart. It will be a while before your child catches up to those born at full term, but seems to be growing normally. The pediatrician will continue to monitor this as your child grows.
