Bonding/Safety: Marijuana does not have a proven direct effect on an infant's development. Second hand marijuana smoke is also a lung irritant for infants. Getting high makes a parent less interactive and responsive to an infant's needs. Also to consider unknown contaminants including pcp, other drugs, pesticides in marijuana if purchased on the street.

Small head: There are a variety of studies of cannabis effect with conflicting results.Some report greater frequency of learning disabilities & some don't.Most agree that infant born to users have smaller head size.Good data is hard to come by as many don't share the information readily & their is overlap with other recreational drugs like alcohol and nicotine that obscure results.

Three concerns:: (1) Heavy weed smoking can lead to THC concentrating in breast milk, which has been shown to affect motor development in the child. (2) Weed can be laced with other drugs, which can also impose harm. (3) Heavy weed use in a mother could affect her parenting skills.
