Symptom is retention: Inability to urinate is a symptom called urinary retention. Can be caused by urinary tract blockage by an enlarged prostate, massive constipation, bladder infection, bladder stone etc. Associated symptom is pelvic/lower abdominal pain. Other symtoms can be constipation, blood in urine or fever.

Retention: Usually have severe pain, but not always....Some pts may not feel the bladder when it's full....Signs an be frequency and urgency too....Signs that you are not emptying the bladder well..
