No cause: I guess you are refering to fibroids of the uterus (leiomyomata). Approximately 25% of women in reproductive years develop fibroids. There is no known cause for the muscular tumors; there is some genetic tendency. They can be ignored as long as they do not grow rapidly, become very large, or cause bleeding problems or occasional pain. They are only very rarely malignant (cancer).
