Reversal indications: Any redo surgery is more complicated and tedious for the surgeon, due to scar formation and distortions to the anatomy by the previous procedure. Okay to talk with your original surgeon, take friend with you, okay to ask for a second opinion and fully understand the indications for redo procedure. Certainly a reversal alone is possible, if indicated, and with benefit to onset risk. Be well.

VBG: Well, if you have regained weight after a vbg, we would usually do a revision to a gastric bypass. However, if you are not able to eat and are underweight, we would need to determine what is wrong with your vbg and correct it. Sometimes the band is too tight and needs to be cut. May also need an endoscopic dilation. We don't usually "reverse" it though.

Vbg : There are about a dozen different surgical procedures available for patients interested in weight loss surgery. One of the oldest and safest is the vertical banded gastro pasty. The original procedure placed a ring around the stomach and a staple line thus creating a small shot glass sized pouch. Without getting too technical, the ring may be removed thus partially reversing the surgery.
