A member asked:

Using breastmilk that is frozen in ice cube trays to place in bottle, what is the best/fastest way to warm it up for baby? would a bottle warmer work?

Why warm it ?: Freezing breast milk inactivates the benificial immunoglobulin in the milk, it reamins balanced and good nutrrition, but not as good as the fresh stuff. Some babies will actually enjuy a chilled feed and i don' see any reason to warm it.Some babies want it warm if they are used to warm bm from the real thing, but there is no biological need for it to be warmed.

Slow warm up: Place bottle with frozen breast milk into a warm pan of water. Avoid using the microwave as this will alter the shape of proteins such as antibodies. Also you can create hotspots with microwaving.
