Occasionally happens: After ovulation a corpus luteum cyst forms. Occasionally that cyst may rupture and cause discomfort. Usually this is not a big problem though.

See below: Each month ovulation is the rupture of a small cyst or follicle (most of the time mature follicles are at least 2-3 cm). Sometimes larger cyst grows and can also rupture. It isn't that one causes the other.
