A member asked:

My nephew has been diagnosed with cerebral atrophy, due to an accident last year with lack of oxigen for 15 min. what can be done about it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Frank talk: Your nephew and the entire family have my sympathy. I understand he remains in coma. It sounds like a frank discussion with the health care team is past due. If i were in the boy's situation, my own advance directive would have forced an end to life-sustaining treatment for me long ago. If you are not fully satisfied and informed, consider engaging the services of an attorney.
