Treats gum disease: When there has been some loss of the bone supporting the teeth and the pocket, or space below the gum line is deeper than normal, and there is calculus in this deep space it is cleaned out with a process called deep cleaning. Many times anesthesia is used to get so the hygienist can get below the gums without causing discomfort for the patient. Follow recommendations of your dentist.
