I live in a college town with many healers who use asian treatments. will they work on herniated nucleus pulposus?

No evidence.: Various forms of alternative medicine have effects that are still being studied. That said, there is no evidence that such treatments would help with a ruptured disc. The good news is that simple things like rest, stretching and exercises, including physical therapy can relieve the symptoms in many cases, thus avoiding surgery. Surgery, however, can be very effective.

Probably not: A herniated disk can be extremely painful. At time even surgery is warranted. Alternative medicine approaches may support the healing and control the pain. In general physical therapy, pain killer and injection therapy are necessary to treat the herniated disk. Surgery is indicated in advanced situations.
