A member asked:

How should a doctor treat a patient with broken ribs and a punctured heart due to a beating?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rib fx: Generally if one had a puncture of the heart that entered a ventricle surgical repair would be needed if the patient didn't bleed out at once. If the heart is lacerated that might not require a repair. Generally due to a beating a bruising of the heart would be more likely than a puncture if the patient is still alive.
