Until then, it is a chronic, serious, non-lifestyle-related disease that can be effectively managed. If topical benzoyl peroxide does not do the job, your physician can help you find the right prescription medication.

No: Most people stop having acne a few years after adolescence. If at 41 you still have it, see a dermatologist. If it is severe, he/she can prescribe drugs to treat it which can be dramatically successful. One such is retinoic acid ('retin a'). Ask your doctor for a referral.
