Yes: Yes you can have dental work including an extraction during pregnancy. Your body is under more stress and for a much longer time period if you delay the extraction. Your oral surgeon will know what type of anesthesia to use and what pain medications you can take. If there are any questions he or she will consult with your ob.

During pregnancy: Most patients and unfortunately even some dentists shy away from proper dental care for pregnant women. Any elective treatment can\should be postponed but all emergency and\or necessary dental care including extractions can usually be performed with proper precautions and by competent dentists. You, your dentist and your ob\gyn should consult with each other. Often, no treatment is worse for all.

Yes: Always ask your ob/gyn for your specific situation (high risk pregnancy etc). But as long as carbocaine/mepivicaine is used for anesthesia and only 1 xray is taken that is digital and a double shield is used, the baby should be ok.

It is recommended: If you are pregnant and have a toothache, do not hesitate to take an appointment with your dentist notifying him/her that you are pregnant. Ignore the widely spread misconception that you should not have dental treatment during pregnancy because it could harm the fetus. See your dentist ASAP.
