Should be seen: A yellowish skin color may represent jaundice or may just be skin tone depending on ethnicity. Jaundice is related to a problem with bilirubin metabolism. Some present at birth and some days to weeks later. Some jaundice is benign but others have more serious causes. It is best to have a medical provider decide if it is jaundice and perform any needed testing.

Evaluation: Your baby could have something like jaundice but it could also be the skin color of the baby. You should go to the doctors to make sure it is not anything medical.

Jaundice: Take her to her doctor. They might need to do some tests. There are different kinds of jaundice but you can't tell what kind without some tests.
