Back and chest: The second rib has three attachments. Thoracic vertebral body, transverse process and costal cartilage in front. If it's separated and moves about it can cause pain in the intercostal (between rib) muscles above and below due to compression and stretch injury. See an orthopedic surgeon for a consultation and treatment plan.
