A member asked:

My mother has a blood pressure 134/58 with a heart rate 47. she is in good health, not obese, no fam history either. should i take her to the doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Slow pulse: If your mother is not on any blood pressure meds that could lower her pulse, beta blockers or clonidine, you should take her to a cardiologist to see why her pulse is 47. I assume that she is about 70 years old and if she does not have hypothyroidism, she may have a problem with the conduction system of her heart. Her BP may be normal due to her low pulse.Have her evaluated by a cardiologist asap.
