Am I Pregnant?: Generally, a good home pregnancy test kit can detect beta HCG on or about the time of the first missed period, assuming a standard, regular predictable menstrual cycle and ovulation did take place 2 weeks prior. However, it is best to retry the test, if negative, one or more times in the first week of the missed period.
