Since august 2005, i've been taking 1/4 tablet (0.5 mg) once a day of clonazepam up to now for my panic disorder as prescribed. is this bad? thanks.

Klonopin (clonazepam): Low dose for maintenance is ok if well tolerated and effective. Hope u r also in therapy. Can discuss gradual tapering with your doctor and staying in psychotherapy to maintain recovery.

Not necessarily.: Of course it is best if you can do without medications, but sometimes they are required. Sounds like you have been on a long term stable dose and this may be the best plan. It might be desirable to try a holiday from your medications to see how things go.

It is not bad: If it works and you are not escalating the dose then it is a safe and proper use of a very helpful psychiatric medication. I know some people will disagree with me, but they tend to be addictionologists with little background in treating chronic anxiety disorders or cognitive therapists that think that everyone should be in cognitive therapy. They seem to ignore the high dropout rates in cbt.
